So, what could it be really?

Answer:
Maikang I think mono might have started a domino effect on Roger with the media getting into his head progressively after each loss but there is much more to it.

Now, loosing to Simon was clearly the result of self-doubt, you could see that he was disgusted with himself right after being broken the first time during that match. It was downhill from that point on as he started missing first serve and making a shitload of forehand errors (51 unforced errors throughout the match).
I truly believe his losses will reteach him that winning takes a battle no matter who the opponent is. No opponent is to be taken lightly even if you are Roger Federer.
Also, did anyone notice the belly on Fed? He seems to have put on quite a bit of weight during these past couple of weeks since Wimbledon and that is unacceptable. So did his girl by the way…

I am huge fan and I view Roger as the best player ever and really want to see him make an incredible come back to shut everyone’s mouth. I don’t think he needs a coach, he needs to find a new beautiful girlfriend who deserves him. Maikang This loss was simply due to the following:
1- Federer had huge trouble with his usual weapon, his forehand.
2- Federer displayed impatience within all the long ralleys, ending the point for most part, spraying the ball wide/going for too much. For that, he had over 60 unforced errors.
3- Simon hung in there, found his own game towards end of first set, and stayed in the ralleys with Roger and not make a ton of errors.skin analyzer

Maikang I don’t think it’s lingering mono.
He did make quite a few unforced errors.
But Simon did play very well. What an incredible backhand.
He’s also coming off a great win last week so his confidence level is up.
Lets hope Roger can get things together for the rest of the hard court season leading up to the US Open.
It does look better for Rafa though as he’s beginning to reach his peak.skin analyzer

Maikang It’s not mono, hasn’t that excuse ran it’s course? Maybe it did affect him earlier but that’s the past now. It’s most likely a combination of: Losing Wimbledon with all that at stake; he’s slowly losing his tennis touch and his stock is getting down; other players are improving while he’s staying the same; and he’s getting burned out. Maybe he needs to take a year off and do a big comeback in 2010. He’s already won millions and millions of dollars and has made his mark in the record books.There’s no reason to say he can’t come back and win a Grand Slam in ’10. Maikang I highly doubt it is lingering Mono. That was back in Jan and Feb. It’s July now, almost August. Mono doesn’t last that long. I think it’s just that he’s a little frustrated. He’s starting to go downhill, and I think that he was confident going into the Wimbledon final, and when he lost that, he was stunned. And now, he’s trying to get his head back in the game, but I don’t think it’s working.skin analyzer

i do think he is getting old in a way that he is yes still sad (or whatever feelings for a close victory and setting new tennis history and yadadyaya) from the lost of Wimbledon. I was really surprise he would lose to Simon because A he is like those other tennis players who we want to get rid of and get to the “real” players and B he is not really experience the weight of losing grand slam. i do not believe the players are getting better but he is just “slowing” down.. i mean cmon try better with the forehand and don’t get near the net because Simon had more room to hit.
if he played this with Nadal we will see another 2008 French Open O.o maybe even worse( i mean how worse can it get …)

seriously Federer gotta retire if he knows he will slow down from now on and get the 1st place to the one really deserves it thats Nadal….everyone moves on and the time of Federer is closing…skin analyzer

Maikang I think Roger Federer is just taking time to regain his rhythm. He’s only about 27, and Pete Sampras retired in his 30s. Roger probably still has few years. Let’s watch how he does in the U.S. Open. If he wins he will gain more confidence, and if he loses, then oh well.skin analyzer

Maikang Im sure he’s not over the Wimby final, that’s why….the least Roger could do right now is to win the Olympics and the US Open so he can retire after winning the Australian Open next year…skin analyzer
