Maikang I think it’s a feminist poem rant, like Sylvia Platt’s’ ranting poems. This poem isn’t so much aimed at her father and men in general but includes both her parents. Like Platt, she’s been made dysfunctional by her parents, so you have in the first stanza the contradiction of having a night light, but then the “shadows” come, which is a metaphor for her mental problems that make noises at night. The toys are also metaphors of her psychology, while her brother’s train is made just for boys is a feminist rant against our society’s values that favor boys and men. Her hitting her brother with the caboose is why you are reading this poem. It’s the reason why our educational system puts into their curriculum poems like this in order to indoctrinate girls to be feminist and use the feminist solution of reactive violence by hating men. This way women won’t marry and will bring the US population down which will depopulate America and democracy to suit all the global dictators’ agenda. The speaker’s mental problems in the poem become robots in the last stanza, and she is suppressing them unconsciously. She says in metaphors that one day she’ll try to analyze them and try to get past her violent reactions, like the boa biting it’s tail, and find the little girl that hasn’t actually grown up emotionally. When she does find herself and her real feelings that are still like a little girl, she’ll stay with them until the light of understanding, daylight, makes the shadows go away.skin analyzer

Nice poem =) I don’t think it’s about being afraid of childhood and having bad memories. But I think the composer of the poem may have wanted to do something back then which she couldn’t do. And now she wishes she did e.g. standing up for herself.skin analyzer
