My 13 year old Shiatsu was diagnosed with skin cancer after I noticed a really large, bleeding bump behind his ear. I took him to the doctor and they did a lab report and told me it was cancer and it would be too risky for surgery and if they did do surgery they would have to remove his ear and he would be in pain. The doctor also told me he only has 1-2 months max to live. She gave me antibiotics for his infection on the lump since he had scratched a lot and caused it to bleed. She also gave me other antibiotics[Atopia] since he has a couple non-cancer benign cysts on his back and his skin is usually itchy.

The thing that’s making me think that they made a mistake is that it’s been 1 month and the doctor said that he would only get worst each day. He was only really slskin analyzer manufacturerseepy for a couple days and just beinghesitantt to eat during the time I gave him the antibiotics for his infection on his ear. But, after I stopped giving it to him because Iran out he slowly started getting better. Now he’s as energetic as he was before he was diagnosed and he has a very good appetite. Is there anyway that the doctor could have made a mistake? Has anyone had a similar situation?

Maikang Vets can be wrong!! And miracles can happen too! Having said that, the progression of cancer cannot always be predetermined. In dogs, because their metabolism is faster than in humans, cancer does normally progress quite fast. However, I have a living example here just now. My hound was diagnosed with a malignant tumour in his mouth during a routine dental last October. I was told, after the biopsy result came back, it was aggressive = fast. He’s still with me today (6 months later) – and goodness knows how long the tumour had been there before it was found (right at the back of his mouth where the upper and lower jaw meet). He’s fine, with no obvious signs of the cancer spreading (this is the biggest problem, when it spreads to other organs). So I’m now wondering whether his diagnosis was correct too!

I think you should just live every day as it comes with your boy, keep this wound clean etc. (you should never stop a course of antibiotics mid-way …. far better to finish the course), and try to put this prognosis to the back of your mind. I know, it’s difficult – I’ve been down this road once before too with a boy who was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma, and he lived on for 6 months of good quality life before his system just crashed.

And the message always has to be ‘good quality life’. Once this isn’t there, it’s the time to make the ghastly decision to let them go.skin analyzer

Well, there are mistakes and there are mistakes, mine was a life-time mistake. But then again, it has to be yin/yang! Maikang I don’t want to get your hopes up, like the first answerer said, but my Pit Bull was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor on her chest, fairly close to her heart. It’s been two years since, and the tumor is no longer visible, and she seems perfectly healthy.
