My fiance and I have a 4 year old pug, full bred. We live in Orlando, so the humidity is really terrible, but he’s been doing okay until just last year. Fish oil, vet shampoo, changing his diet… I just don’t know how to help him. He also has greenish flakes of scabby-looking skin that sit on the surface and fall off frequently. His skin is so red underneath these flakes that I think he’s going to start bleeding at any moment. We can’t afford a vet dermatologist at the moment, so I was hoping someone might have an idea about some sort of topical something I could put on him to make him feel better until we can afford a full analyzer. Right now the areas are in his front armpits and on his stomach.

Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

Maikang You have to sit down and look at your expenses and find a way to afford a vet. Some vets will work out a payment plan with you. Call the vets in your area and tell them that your dog is really miserable and beg the vet to help you, because this could be caused by all kinds of problems. If you have already tried changing his diet, it’s hard to know how else to proceed without an analyzer of the skin and probably blood tests by the vet as well. It almost sounds like some sort of fungus and/or bacterial infection, but I am NOT diagnosing without seeing him — that is for the vet. And only prescription meds can treat that.skin analyzer

Maikang I feel so sorry for him. I also understand when money is a problem. Have you changed his food? Maybe he is having an allergic reaction. My son’s dog had a similar problem. His dog was allergic to the corn in the food. He changed to a high quality food and the sores and itching went away. He also might be walking in some type of plant or weed that is irritating his skin. In the meantime, you can try rubbing him with a paste of oatmeal and water. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes, if possible. then rinse him with warm water and break open some vitamin E capsules and apply to the sores. Maikang He definitely needs to see a vet. A regular vet should be able to tell you what is wrong. In the meantime, You can give him benedryl. My mom’s pug likes the kid’s no dye clear liquid, or you can use the pills. Give it to him 2-3 times a day for his relief. You can put an anti itch cream on him or even orajel. These will help with the itching. You can also use antibiotic creams. this should help. I hope he feels better.skin analyzer

Maikang unfortunately green means skin infection so antibiotics are needed to clear that up. you can try using sensitive skin baby wipes to clean his skin. call your vet and ask about using benadryl also. keep his skin dry if you can. and hope you can get to a vet soon. good luckskin analyzer
