Can someone please explain what the poet is trying to say in the last lines of this poem? specifically in the line about the soul?

if Thoughts had wings
would mine

Fly

like Hawk or Sparrow

would my Ideas stretch across the open sky
with wandering Albatross

or remain confined
in a willow cage

Maikang I think you need to know a little about the poet’s life or mindset, to figure out what specifically he or she meant, but even that doesn’t always help. I really think different people could interpret it differently. I think of the soul migrating to warmer climates as an allusion to where it goes when it dies. I’m not sure about the swallow-tailed love returning. does that represent the poet’s love for someone and that love remains with the person whose restful eaves are referenced, even when the soul itself dies? So, the poet dies, but though the soul drifts away, the love remains with the loved one. That’s my interpretation, but i am tired right now and could be totally off.skin analyzer
