What Better Ways to how to cover up peeling skin?

6 Ways to how to cover up peeling skin, which is best?

1 way How to Hide Peeling Skin

Flaky, peeling skin usually results due to causes including dry winter air, excessive sun exposure and overuse of harsh skin products. Although the peeling eventually stops, the appearance of the skin is unsightly and often embarrassing until it does. Hiding peeling skin is a challenge due to the unevenness of the skin’s texture. However, treating the dryness before attempting to hide the peeling allows you to successfully disguise the problem areas.

Step 1

Pour a dime-sized amount of mild facial scrub into your hand. Spread the scrub over the area of peeling skin, and gently massage it using small, circular motions. Continue massaging the area for 30 to 60 seconds. Rinse your skin with cool water until no trace of the facial scrub remains. Pat the skin dry with a towel using light, gentle pressure.

Step 2

Apply into your hand a dime-sized amount of lotion or facial moisturizer that contains aloe vera as one of the main ingredients. Then, gently spread the moisturizer over all peeling skin. Wait 10 to 15 minutes until the moisturizer absorbs into the skin

Step 3

Apply a powdered foundation product — in a color that matches your skin tone — with a makeup sponge by dabbing it lightly over all areas where peeling occurred. Do not rub the sponge across the skin, as this will cause more peeling to occur.

2 WAY How to Apply Makeup with Peeling Skin

Peeling skin is a nuisance. Whether it is caused by the sun or a harsh acne product, one factor remains the same: when your skin peels, you want to cover it up. With a little help from The Pageant Planet, hopefully we can ease your peeling pain.

Your skin is dry, so before makeup is even applied, two things must be done: exfoliate and moisturize. Exfoliating with a scrub will rub away the dead skin (St. Ives Apricot Scrub is a perfect product to use for this!). Afterwards apply a moisturizer (Olay or Burt’s Bees are reliable brands to use as well.).

Now that your skin is ready for makeup, there are two main options: light makeup or heavy makeup.

Light Makeup:

No matter what, when your skin is peeling, it will be difficult to cover up. If the peeling is intense, it is best to stick with a basic application of makeup. For this, you will need aloe lotion and foundation powder. An aloe vera gel may be useful, but only if you use it long before applying makeup due to its sticky texture (A very light foundation may also be used, but if it is too heavy it can make the skin look darker and worse.) When your skin is peeling, it’s dehydrated. Therefore, one application option is to first apply some aloe, then add a light powder over the skin. A light powder will help make the peeling skin look smoother yet keep the makeup looking natural. Only apply a SMALL amount of powder. Just sweep on a small amount to help cover it, not mask it completely.

Heavy Makeup:

Depending on how severe the peeling is, heavier makeup can be applied. Stay away from bronzer or makeup that is dark. Otherwise, it will accentuate the peeling skin. Again, exfoliate and moisturize the area. Use a foundation primer. Then, gently apply a liquid foundation. Afterward, brush on a small amount of powder in order to complete the look. Remember, foundations are to be used as a base. So you can’t expect it to cover up everything. Peeling skin may still show through.

No matter what, avoid shiny makeup or makeup with talc in it. Any shimmer or sparkle will emphasize all and any part of your skin. Using too much makeup will only make the skin look worse (Plus, it makes it more difficult for your skin to recover.). When you’re not competing or wearing makeup, the best thing you can do is moisturize! Vitamin E infused lotions, baby oil, and aloe gel will be your new best friend until your skin gets back to normal. Be sure to wear sunscreen, and try to avoid peeling in the first place. However, when it does happen, remember these tips!

3 WAY How to Cover it Up with Makeup

Sometimes no matter how careful you try to be, sunburns still happen. While we’ve already gone over plenty of ways to soothe sunburn on our bodies (including all the unexpected places you’re probably forgetting), we’d be remiss not to mention how to hide perhaps the most embarassing scenario of all: a lobster-red complexion.

To be honest, applying makeup to peeling, stinging skin is a tricky situation, which is why we asked makeup artist Kira Nasrat to break it down for us, below:

Step 1: Soothe the Burn

Skip the exfoliator (which will only make matters worse) and spritz Avène Thermal Spring Water ($13; drugstore.com) to gently wipe away unsightly peeling skin, Nasrat tells InStyle. “It will soothe any inflammation and redness. It’s also great to set makeup as well as freshen it up.”

Step 2: Repair the Damage

“You really should treat sunburn before trying to cover it up,” the pro adds. Aside from aloe vera, Nasrat recommends healing the affected area with a hydrating formula, such as African Botanics Marula Intense Skin Repair Balm ($55; violetgrey.com). “Its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties make it great for battling sunburns. Plus, it has repairing properties and encourages cell turnover,” she says.

Step 3: Prevent It from Getting Worse

Once you’re feeling brave enough to step out in the sun again, make sure you’re properly protected with a layer of sunscreen (preferably with a higher SPF). “For daily use I love the Avene Ultra-Light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 ($24; drugstore.com),” says Nasrat. “It has Avène Thermal Spring Water and it soothes the skin. Not to mention the lotion is sheer so the hypoallergenic formula is great for all skin types. It’s perfect for layering under makeup.”

 Step 4: Cancel Out Redness

The best way to do this is by prepping with a color-correcting primer, says Nasrat. She swears by Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Makeup Color Base in green or yellow ($48 each; kohgendocosmetics.com) to instantly even out an inflamed complexion.

Other than that, she suggests wearing minimal makeup to avoid further irritating the skin. “If you really want some coverage in certain areas try the Kjaer Weis foundations ($68; kjaerweis.com). They are amazing and a little bit goes a long way,” she says. Her trick? “Start off by dabbing a small amount in the red areas and then blend outwards with your fingers. Or you can ditch the foundation and use a bronzer to mute any redness.” Just make sure the bronzer you choose doesn’t have a pink undertone (we like Make Up For Ever’s Pro Bronze Fusion, $26; sephora.com). “Apply it where the sun would touch your face, including the forehead, nose, chin, and apples of cheeks,” she suggests. “Your skin will look more like sun-kissed than sunburned.”

4 WAY How To Wear Foundation With Dry Skin

1. Exfoliate

The skin most prone to dryness is around your nose and in the crease of your chin (thanks, hormones). It’s important to gently remove the dry flakes of skin in these areas every night. You can keep it simple and use a washcloth or use an exfoliating tool to remove the layer of dead skin.

2. Moisturize

A foundation, no matter how dexy, isn’t meant to act as your moisturizer. You should always hydrate your skin before you apply foundation, but be careful about the lotions you choose. Petroleum-based products will only sit on top of your skin without being absorbed, leaving you looking greasy.

3. Choose foundation with a dewy finish

Of course, you want to stay away from the drying matte formulas. Even “normal” foundations can dry out your skin, especially waterproof and “oil-control” foundations. Choose something with “dewy,” “luminous” or “aqua” in the name and you’ll have something more forgiving for dry skin.

4. Use cream products

Powders absorb moisture and can make dry skin look even drier. To avoid flakiness, use as many cream products as you can and stay away from powder and cream-to-powder products. It’s best to blend cream products with a beauty sponge for a natural finish.
