Started a cutting diet around 5 weeks ago or so. Lost about 17lbs or so. Just wondering how long it takes for the skin to tighten up and catch up to the fat loss?

I really doubt you have loose skin issues after losing 17lbs. I’m going to just guess that it’s fat.

Are you sure it’s loose skin? Do you know what loose skin looks like?

My loose skin looks like old peoples skin, there is wrinkles and folds everywhere (on my lower stomach, pisses me off) and you can easily pull it out and it doesnt retract back it slowly goes back into place.

I should take a pic of the loose skin on my back…. it’s nasty  I’m starting to get it above my belly button…..

How to Tighten Loose Skin

As you lose weight and loose skin begins to appear, don’t panic! Your skin will slowly return to a shape that fits your new body. But that process can take up to two years, so here are steps you can take to make your skin tighten faster:

#1: Don’t Lose Weight Too Quickly

Crash diets and excessive amounts of time spent exercising can rapidly shed both muscle and fat, and result in a greater amount of loose skin. Aim for no more than 1-2 pounds of fat loss per week, and include weight training so you build muscle to help stretch the skin.

Depending on what your starting weight was, loose skin can take anything from a few months up to a year go back to it’s original form. However, in extreme cases, such as losing over 100 pounds, there may be long term damage to the skin elasticity.

Depending on your weight. If you had much weight to lose, the excess skin is more likely to stay hanging and surgery is needed. But, if you didn’t have too much skin before losing weight, it’ll take some exercising to get it back to normal.

 

Sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes (especially if it was a lot of weight) it gets stretched beyond the point when it can just shrink back. In many cases after rapid and significant weight loss, surgical removal of excess skin may be required.

This may also depend on other factors – your age, gender, the amount of collagen and vitamin C in your diet (do you like bone broth? or gelatin?) and more.

LOL. I wish I could afford a surgeon. I’m wondering the same thing too. I gained 60 pounds in my pregnancy and I’m down to my pre-pregnancy weight, but there is still some skin. My stretchmarks have lost all the color (Thanks to merderma stretchmarks therapy!!!). I really hope they can possibly become less noticeable.

Are you saying that your profile picture is the current picture? That doesn’t look like sagging skin, just a fuller face. Do you have any idea if you might have a higher body fat percentage now than you did before?

Hi, my profile is the current pic. The picture is a little blurry, so you can’t really see the sagging skin as much as you can in person. Are you thinking that when I lost the weight, I lost a lot of muscle and therefore I’m fatter than I was before I gained, but the scale says the same thing? That was my theory and it’s possible because my stomach is certainly larger than it was last time I was 175 lbs. I don’t actually know my body fat percentage. I wish I had found out what it was previously so I could compare.

Although you were the same weight, I venture to say that the photo where you were blonde was not recent. I have noticed that men, in particular, fill out in their faces and necks as they mature. Although the same weight, there is a huge difference in my son’s face between the 20’s and the 30’s.

However, take a look in the women’s cosmetic section. There are many “firming” facial creams both daytime and nighttime. Men tend to neglect their skin and getting older. These creams won’t make you look 23, but they do help firm the skin.
